Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida provides a home away from home for families with children receiving treatment at hospitals and medical facilities in Orlando. Winter Park Construction #WPC participated in the #RMH Share-a-Meal program on March 6th at the downtown Orlando RMH location. This unique program offers local groups an opportunity to provide a meal for the families staying there. It includes planning a healthy and delicious menu, bringing all the items needed, then using their full-facility kitchen to prepare and serve the meal.
It was a beautiful Friday morning and a grill-out seemed in order. So we brought a grill, which we ended up leaving there when we heard they didn’t have one. We had 18 WPC team members participating. As a company we encourage our employees to donate time and talents, we’ll even pay them to volunteer, it’s part of the #WPCWay. We encourage and invite you to learn more about the important work that Ronald McDonald House Charities is doing in the Central Florida community– and to get involved through their fun and exciting volunteer programs.
Jennings Johnson (shown above), Project Manager at WPC, says of the significance of the opportunity, "It was very rewarding to give back to the families. Everyone that we spoke with said that this was the best meal they have had at the house. I am grateful that we had a wonderful team that went above and beyond to make this event possible. It couldn’t have happened without their dedication to give back to our local community. We were also blessed to donate a grill to the house that others may be able to come and serve these families. Our hope is to do another share-a-meal at the end of the year."
