Oakmonte Village – A Relationship Built to Last

At WPC our construction projects are built to last, and so are our relationships. Each project is a community—from the people involved in its design and construction to those who eventually live in or visit them. Our dedication to these communities and our commitment to doing the right thing the first time is one of our core values.

Oakmonte Village is a 25-acre luxury senior living community in the heart of prestigious Lake Mary, Florida. Owned by Royal Senior Care, it features independent living, assisted living and memory care facilities. WPC led new construction of this Valencia-Inspired and Tuscan-Influenced community in phases beginning in 2009.

As senior living properties mature, there are natural refurbishments, upgrades, and enhancements needed for the communities to stay competitive and to enhance resident experience. When it comes to renovations, WPC brings a lot of experience to the table, having honed our estimating, scheduling, and value engineering processes over our nearly 50-year history.

As Oakmonte came ready for a renewal, WPC was thrilled to be invited back. We have recently completed an interior renovation of the common areas including, the dining room, gym, movie theater, library, bar, and lounge - as well as most of the rooms of the independent living Valencia Building. The scope of work included wallcovering, paint, carpet, light fixtures, millwork, kitchen, and vanity counter tops.

We also remodeled the pool deck, resurfaced the pool, and added cabanas, new landscaping, and updated the aesthetics of the outdoor spaces.

In senior housing communities, the safety and health of the residents are a primary focus. So, when COVID happened, for the protection of the residents, the work was suspended for almost a year. Then, a short time after, the project shut down again. And now we are safely complete, and the residents are enjoying their newly refreshed spaces.

Senior housing renovation projects differ from new construction projects in a variety of ways, one of which is that they offer our team a special opportunity to interact with community residents.

Jeff Emerson, Renovation Superintendent for Oakmonte shares, “Oakmonte Village of Lake Mary is filled with wonderful staff and residents. WPC has built more than a beautiful structure - we have built friendships. There have been so many smiles and fun-time memories.” Jeff continues, “The residents really look forward to the fun events. Just recently Oakmonte had a talent show and I was asked to participate. I got up on the stage, sang, and played a couple songs with the harmonica, I also sang the official “WPC” song about Willy Pete Clawhammer. They Loved it. To close the show the last song was Amazing Grace. They all sang along with tears in their eyes.”

Dressed as a clown for the fall carnival, Jeff spent the day twisting balloons, entertaining, and creating fun filled memories for the residents.

Our ongoing commitment to clients over the years, blended with the passion of team members (like Jeff) to go above and beyond in all areas - is an example of what we call “The WPC Way.”
